Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. CONSTITUTION DAY CELEBRATED: NEW YORK, NY - Thousands gather in Wall Street and elsewhere to swear allegiance to the American flag in stirring exercises. Impressive rites at City Hall make the day memorable in metropolitan history. 2. MOONEY FIGHTS FOR FREEDOM: SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Thomas J. Mooney, in jail for nineteen years for the Preparedness Day bombing, makes a dramatic appeal for liberty as he is brought to the Hall of Justice, and is confident his long battle will soon result in vindication. 3. PITTS PLAYS “PRO” FOOTBALL: CHESTNUT HILL, PA - “Alabama” Pitts, Sing Sing’s former athletic star, after a successful summer of baseball, opens this pigskin season as a regular with the Philadelphia Eagles, and gets a great hand from his team mates and the fans. 4. JUNGLE PETS DIVE TO BATH: THOUSAND OAKS, CA - Saturday night in Jungle Town is a big lark for the lions where the cat-family bath tub is turned into a diving tank. A remarkable demonstration of lion training. 5. INDIANS MAKE SALMON HAUL: CELILO, OR - A special fishing season for Indians only opens with hundreds of red-skins risking their necks over the gorge below Celilo Falls to net a record catch, with 60 and 70 pound fish as prizes for the day’s work. 6. HUMAN BULLET DEFIES DEATH: READING, PA - Zacchini, the man who doesn’t care what happens to him, makes the crowd gasp for breath as he is shot from a cannon one hundred feet into the air over the top of two Ferris wheels. 7. OUTBOARDS IN TROPHY RACE: PHILADELPHIA, PA - Bobbing boats with wide-open motors, kick up the placid waters of the Schuylkill River, as Lewis Carlisle wins the coveted Sir Thomas Lipton Cup in a spectacular contest. 8. LONG POLICIES TO CONTINUE: NEW ORLEANS, LA - (Exclusive) Seymour Weiss, Huey Long’s first lieutenant, in a dramatic interview, cites the nation’s and Louisiana’s loss and urges that his dead leader’s plans and policies be carried on in the state. 9. HAWAII STAGES ARMY REVIEW: SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, HI - A mighty display of America’s mid-Pacific defenses is paraded before the House Military Affairs Committee. For the first time in history, special tracks are laid so giant railway artillery can pass in review. 10. O’MAHONEY DOWNS SAVOLDI: CHICAGO, IL - The bone benders are at it again in a hair-raising tug and tussle contest in which the loser almost gets choked to death after a frenzied ring merry-go-round of slams and wallops. 11. POLOISTS VIE FOR OPEN TITLE: WESTBURY, NY - The Greentree four downs the Templeton team, last year’s winner, in a last minute rally, 10 to 9, in the semi-finals for the national title. (LOCAL – BOSTON) ONE DEAD, MANY HURT AS AGED THEATRE COLLAPSES IN RUINS.
