The original release sheet reads: 1. ETHIOPIANS RUSH EARTHWORKS FOR DEFENSE OF CAPITOL CITY (Photographed by Howard Winner, Ace Universal Newsreel Cameraman): ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA - Regular troops feverishly prepare a cordon of trenches and earthworks entirely surrounding the city in preparation for the onslaught of the Italian Army. Anti-aircraft machine-guns are mounted on the defenses as sharpshooters rehearse the deadly roles they’ll play if Il Duce’s bombers penetrate border wildernesses and reach the capitol. Haile Selassie and his Queen take prominent parts in traditional Mary Day ceremonies at a shrine atop Entoto Mountain, overlooking the city. 2. AMBASSADOR GIVES ITALY’S VIEWS: WASHINGTON, D.C. - Augusto Rosso, Mussolini’s envoy to the United States, declares that his chief is doing everything in his power to avoid a European war, and gives the reasons for the invasion of Ethiopia on which Italy bases her case against the African Empire. 3. AVIATRIX HURT IN CRACK-UP: TROY, NY - Ruth Nichols receives serious injuries as a transport ’plane crashes into a tree and plunges to destruction. The pilot is killed and four other airline employees in the ship sustain cuts and bruises. 4. ’QUAKE DEVASTATES WESTERN TOWN: HELENA, MT - A series of terrific shocks tears down business buildings and homes, shearing the bricks from a schoolhouse wall and wrecking factories and warehouses. Emergency stations supply food and medical attention as a swirling snowstorm adds to the city’s plight. 5. BLACK HELEN WINS HANDICAP: LAUREL, MD - A fine field of three-year-olds competes in a stirring running of the Maryland Handicap.
