Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. STORM SWIRLS ABOUT ROYAL ROMANCE: LONDON, ENGLAND - King Edward’s deep interest in the twice-divorced Baltimore belle, Mrs. Wallis Warfield Simpson, rocks the Empire to its foundations. With Prime Minister Baldwin and the Queen Mother in violent opposition to the young monarch’s match with the American woman, England and the far-flung Dominions wait anxiously for the King to make his choice. If he should decide to abdicate, the crown goes to his younger brother, the ultra-conservative Duke of York. 2. RIO ACCLAIMS THE PRESIDENT: RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - President Roosevelt receives an enthusiastic welcome as the U.S.S. Indianapolis steams into the harbor of the South American capital. A crescendo of applause greets the Chief Executive’s speech at a monster gathering. 3. FIRE RAZES CRYSTAL PALACE: LONDON, ENGLAND - The British capital’s famous old exhibition hall burns to the ground in a blaze of mysterious origin. The flames sweep the $7,500,000 glass building inaugurated by Queen Victoria eighty-three years ago. 4. U.S. TESTS BIGGEST BOMBER: SEATTLE, WA - Army Air Corps officials watch the trial flight of the world’s largest bombing ’plane. The huge craft has a wing-spread of 105 feet. ELECTRIC ROAD TURNS TO GAS: ARLINGTON COUNTY, VA - One of the oldest electric railroads in the country tries out the “Auto-Railer,” a bus that’s as at home on the tracks as ion the roads. Officials see a 40% saving in fuel and train operation at 16 cents a mile. 6. SKI-ERS MAKE INDOOR BOWS: NEW YORK CITY - (Exclusive) Girls and men try the slippery runners at Wanamaker’s on the longest indoor ski-run in the world. The experts show some beautiful ski-ing, but the tyros find the borax-covered slide is just as hard as Nature’s snow-crusted slopes. 7. WIN WALK TO CONEY ISLAND: NEW YORK CITY - (Exclusive) Murray Rosenstein beats out a big field of opponents in the chilly 26th annual revival of the 10½ mile heel-and-toe derby from City Hall to Coney Island.
