Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. HUNDREDS DEAD IN HEAT WAVE: TWO-THIRDS OF THE UNITED STATES suffers from a prolonged spell of record temperatures. Nearly four hundred persons are stricken fatally and countless thousands of others prostrated as young and old, in city and country, seek relief from the oppressive heat. 2. BRITISH CLIPPER SPANS SEA: PT. WASHINGTON, NY - Passing her American counterpart in mid-Atlantic, the British commercial flying boat Caledonia wings her way to a safe landing in the United States. The double hop charts the course of a regular passenger and mail service to start soon. 3. HORSEMEN RACE IN OLD FETE: SIENNA, ITALY - A blaze of color envelopes a revival of a Fourteenth Century festival. The high spots of the day are the juggling of flags by men in medieval costumes and a breakneck race around the square. Thirty thousand persons watch the gay event. 4. ROCKETTES HOME FROM PARIS: NEW YORK CITY - The famous Rockettes return to their home stages playing an engagement limited to only one night at the Paris International Exposition. Greeted enthusiastically abroad, the dancers take a look around and sail for America. 5. ROYALTY VIEWS FAMED YEOMEN: LONDON, ENGLAND - The historic Yeomen of the Guard, wearing the traditional uniform designed by King Henry VII, march to St. James’s Palace for their annual inspection. The Duke of Gloucester reviews the men in place of the aged Duke of Connaught. 6. STRIKE ENDS AFTER TWO DIE: ALCOA, TN - Striking Union men vote to return to work at the Aluminum Company of America plant following a brush with guards in which two men were killed and scores of others wounded by gunshots and clubs. 7. STYLES HAIL SUMMER SEASON: CHICAGO, IL - (Exclusive) Pretty girls in the colorful costumes designed for sports and gardening herald the beginning of the vacation season in a show produced by the Merchandise Mart. Clothing for bicycling, gardening and tennis vies with the last gasp in bathing suits. 8. AMERICANS TAKE RYDER CUP: SOUTHPORT, ENGLAND - Gloomy British weather finds an echo among the nation’s golf enthusiasts as the American team sweeps to victory in the Ryder cup championship matches. Walter Hagen, as non-playing captain, pilots his team to brilliant victory. 9.
