The last survivor of the 4 million who fought in War Between The States, his death closes a great and tragic era. / ISRAEL BORDER OPENED - The sealed border between Israel and Jordan is opened to permit Christian pilgrims from around the world to visit the hallowed places of the Bible during the Holy season. / HAIR-RAISING HAIR-DOS - In Rome, ladies of fashion start the New Year with new coiffures, and they're joined by their pets–poodles and even a chic chimp.
