Arriving in Ankara to begin a 17-hour visit, he is cheered by hundreds of thousands, and throughout his intensely busy 17 hours, in a city in festive array, he receives warm demonstrations of friendship. In Karachi, another stupendous reception marks what is one of the most momentous events in Pakistan’s 12-year history. Ike sees and enjoys the sights and sounds of the fabled and spectacular East. 2A/B. POPCORN STUFFING - Popcorn not for eating but for stuffing packages to prevent breakage of fragile and delicate lamps in an innovation at a New York plant. Hundreds of pounds are popped daily, to protect the product and delight the packers. / HYDROFOIL ON VOLGA - Russian engineers run a radical craft down the Volga–no doubt startling the legendary boatman. It runs almost completely out of the water, on hydrofoils, at speeds of 50 m.p.h. Big enough to carry 150 passengers, it’s a local sensation. 3. L.S.U.’S BILLY CANNON GETS HEISMAN TROHPY - At ceremonies in New York City, Vice-President Nixon presents the Heisman Trophy to America’s top collegiate football player of the year, L.S.U.’s Billy Cannon. Scenes recall one of the season’s most spectacular plays, an 87-yard runback by Cannon against Ole Miss.
