Description

The original release sheet reads: ARGENTINE REVOLT: REBEL NAVAL UNITS CRUSHED BY TROOPS The seething undercurrent of political unrest in the Argentine centers around the former followers of former dictator Juan Peron and those forces which would crush them. Naval and Marine units rebel as they demand that Peronists be outlawed and a two day civil war rocks the country. President Jose Guido wants to allow them to vote in the June election, the rebels did not. Marines seize Buenos Aires for a few hours and navy planes blast loyalist tank units. Sixty are dead in the two-day war and damage to installations is high. GOLF WHIZ: NICKLAUS WINS MASTERS BY A STROKE The Masters Tournament in Augusta, Ga., totes a bag of thrills for the record crowd as golfdom's top aces battle right down to the wire. It's the 23-year-old wonderboy, Jack Nicklaus, who comes out on top as he comes through the final round with even par and 286 for the tourney. He's one happy fellow as he picks up $20,000-one of the finest golfers to come down the fairway in many a moon. PLAY BALL! As the old familar cry rings throughout the land, President Kennedy opens the season in the old familiar way. He throws out the first ball and settles back to see the Baltimore Orioles take the Washington Senators. Don Rudolph pitches a ball to Jim Gentile--well it's enough to "kill a mockingbird"-it hits the scoreboard for a homer. Boog Powell comes through with another for the birds and Baltimore tops the Senators-3 to 1.
