A grenade with the head removed is placed on a grappling hook. Re-enacted sequence: The Sgt demonstrates a grappling hook fitted on an M-1 rifle and fired the same as a grenade. A rope is attached which makes it possible to pull the hook back, detonating mines in the immediate area and making way for infantry advance.
