Description

Summary: American servicewomen carrying children up ramp to plane. (Kids are to be flown to Island off SK) Army truck with Korean women and children, backing up. American women carrying children up ramp, followed by a Korean woman carrying a child. FS, of a soldier carrying two infants to plane. HS, little children, so young that they have to be carried, seated in truck. General Shot, showing some of the C-54s which were used by the FEAF Combat Cargo Command to effect the evacuation. Older children are helped off truck. MS, Korean children standing in truck. Korean kid running up ramp to plane. MS, soldiers lifting up kids to other men in plane from truck. (Note: Story of the evacuation with captions.) GENERAL ACTIVITIES.: Hungnam Harbor, N Korea: 12/12/1950: HS, long line of jeeps of 1st Marine Div. They are waiting, so says captions, to be loaded aboard the Union Victory. Pan Shot of the harbor, showing a few tankers at the pier. HS, looking down, as a USMC 2 1/2 ton truck is hoisted to the SS Robin Gray. The same truck being lowered into hold. HMS, casualties of the 1st Marine Div. (these men have frostbitten feet) walking to LCM which is alongside pier. The men go aboard the LCM; one man is helped up. MS, man sitting on litter (this man has injured feet) is let down into LCM. FS, man carrying casualty on his back. Pan Shot, trucks and vehicles, 5th Marines. A vehicle from the same outfit towing a howitzer coming into staging area. Pan Shot, USMC trucks at staging area. A netful of boxed supplies is hoisted from a truck to Union Victory. Tilt up, a jeep is hoisted upward and aboard. (Note: Light camera scratch in most of 2d story).
