The Navy, realizing that these men are hard pressed to obtain either the transportation or the time to travel the distances involved, combined business with a "morale cruise utilizing the USS SUSSEX, a cargo ship. As the USS SUSSEX was to head for Tahiti in August, a stop was scheduled at Pago Pago, Samoa. From there the SUSSEX wil continue to Tahiti then return to Samoa to pick up the "liberty party" for return to Pearl Harbor. Sequences show: (a) USS SUSSEK docked at Pearl Harbor (b) Samoana, representing all the services, with their loved ones on the dock. (c) After fond good-byes, the men board the SUSSEX (a) Casting off last line. Wives, sweethearts and children wave from the dock as the SUSSEX leaves.
