1...2...3...: A Monthly Review From Europe (Volume 1, No. 4) Reel 1 · Part 1
Description
This film is a documentary on the city of Strasbourg, France after World War II and the internationalist spirit that developed across Europe. A French woman serves as interpreter for the Council of Europe, and scenes are shown of the members debating, as well as two truck drivers preparing to transport Danish butter to Strasbourg. Lack of international cooperation forces the drivers to stop at each boundary for inspection. The Dutch captain travels unhindered along the Rhine River because of special trade agreements between Rhine countries. Finally, West Germany's Konrad Adenauer and Britain's Leopold Amery address the Council of Europe on the need for cooperation in international trade. The film is a Marshall Plan film that was produced by the Mutual Security Agency (MSA).
