Strength for the Free World Reel 1 · Part 1
Description
This film is a report on conditions and events in war-torn French Indochina as matters stood in 1951, with an emphasis on American assistance to the French forces and the civilian population. The number of American tanks and quantity of other materiel supplied to the French forces is second only to that sent to Korea, the narrator observes. Daily life in Saigon and at the front is shown, as well as American technicians working on emergency housing projects and fighting malaria with DDT. Bao Dai is shown and characterized as "a resolute ruler," and Indochina and Korea are described as different battles of the same war. This is a Marshall Plan film, produced by the MSA Film Section, Paris, for MSA Washington.
