Chester Nimitz receives the D.S.M. from Pres. Truman. Adm. Denfield succeeds Nimitz as Chief of Naval Operations. / 21 DIE IN AIR CRASH: MEMPHIS, TN - Another plane crash takes a high toll and strews wreckage for 200 yards along a hillside where the craft struck. Twenty-one Army personnel died in the crash. / LABRADOR SURVIVORS HOME: WASHINGTON - Four survivors of the disastrous ATC transport crash in Labrador arrive at Bolling Field on an ambulance plane.
