MOUNTBATTEN LEAVES INDIA: INDIA - Lord Louis Mountbatten, retiring Governor-General of India receives a tremendous ovation as he and Lady Mountbatten attend last functions before flying home to England. His successor, a native Indian, takes over. / FRENCH TIRE WORKERS STRIKE: CLERMONT-FERAND - Communist inspired rubber workers in the "Akron of France" clash with police and mobile guards in the country's worst labor unrest in months.
