Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. ARCTIC DEFENSE TEST: ALASKA - 10,000 men take part in Operation Moosehorn, as the Army tests its ability to survive and to fight along America's far northern frontier. On a footing of 40 inches of snow, battling 60 mph gales, men and machines win the battle with nature, and stand ready for human foes. 2A/B/C/D. NEWS IN BRIEF — U.S. ARMS TO SPAIN - Tanks and other military equipment arrive in Spain as the U.S. keeps its part of the bargain that gives the use of Spanish to the Navy. / BILLY GRAHAM IN JAPAN - In Tokyo, a capacity crowd of 30,000 throngs to see evangelist Billy Graham. Americans and Japanese mingle in the vast audience. / TRAIN WRECK - 6 are killed, and 90 injured, when the Washington-New York flyer jumps the tracks near Severn, Md., at an 80 mph speed. Rescuers work for hours to cut the dead and wounded free of the twisted wreck. / DELAYED XMAS - Yuba City, California, celebrates Christmas late. The festive season was put off when last winter's record floods devastated the town. Now, rebuilding begun, Yuba City can afford merriment. 3.BEACH FASHIONS: NEW YORK - A swanky setting on Long Island's south shore for cashmere blend beach fashions inspired by the film musical "The Benny Goodman Story." A fashion touch for every fashion need during a season at the sea. 4A/B. SPORTS — AUSTRIAN SKI CHAMPS show the stellar form that won this tiny nation 2nd place in the winter Olympics. Blazing speed marks the slalom events while skibirds fly high and far in the jumps. / DAYTONA RACES - Stock car races at Daytona Beach, Fla., reach a sizzling climax with the 160-mile Circuit Championship, a grueling 39-lap test of men and machines. At speeds of over 100 mph, there are spectacular skids and flip-overs, but no fatalities in the motor event of the season.
