Description
The original release sheet reads: 1. NEW CANADIAN GOVERNMENT - In Canada, the reins of government change hands after 22 years. At Government House in Ottawa, Prime Minister St. Laurent and his Liberal Cabinet submit their resignations, and the new Prime Minister, Conservative John Diefenbaker is sworn in by Governor General Massey. 2A/B/C/D/E. U.N. TO RE-ARM IN KOREA - At Panmunjom, U.N. and Communist truce teams face again across historic conference tables, and the announcement is made that in retaliation for continued Red Truce violations, U.N. forces will receive new and modern arms–start with jets capable of carrying nuclear payloads. / MARINE COMMANDOS in maneuvers off Puerto Rico, take off from the deck of a submarine in new-model, quick-inflating rubber boats. / BACK YARD PLANE CRASH - A twin motor transport crashes in a Maryland back yard, only 15 feet from a bungalow. Owner John Anderson had to race for his life to escape the plummeting craft. / ALPINE ROUND-UP - Tyrolian Shepherds gather their flocks for a trek northwards across the Alps, following the cool weather--a scene as old as time in a land of timeless scenic grandeur. / KIDS FISHING - Kids by the thousands in a giant Seattle dock fishing derby. Anything that swims or wiggles counts toward a prize and the fledgling fishermen make quite a dent in the fish population. 3A/B. JAPAN PREMIER AT BALL GAME - At Yankee Stadium, Japan's Premier Kishi receives a Yankee cap from Casey Stengel, and throws out the first ball to start the game with White Sox. He's an ardent baseball fan, like most of his countrymen. / A.A.U. TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS - At Dayton, Ohio, star-studded field of competitors in the 69th A.A.U. Track and Field Championships. Highlights include Merv Lincoln's victory in the mile, and Bob Richards' new pole-vault record.
