Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. THIRD VANGUARD SUCCESSFUL – MOON IS LAUNCHED! - After a long, seemingly jinxed experimental phase, Project Vanguard scores a bulls-eye on the third attempt. On two previous tries, the advanced multi-stage rockets failed. Now, at Cape Canaveral, the big Navy rocket hurtles aloft in flawless flight, to place America's second "moon" into orbit. 2. MONACO ACCLAIMS NEW CROWN PRINCE - A 101-gun salute signals the birth of a second child, a son, Prince and heir apparent, to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco. Jubilation and merry-making far into the night fill the picturesque Riviera principality. 3A/B. ST. LAWRENCE ICE - The Canadian ice-breaker d'Iberville battles through the frozen St. Lawrence River to free a channel for Montreal. A week-long battle with winter's last rampart. / BRUSSELS FAIR - As opening date draws near, the elaborate National Pavilions at the Brussels World's Fair are rushed to completion. One highlight of the transportation show, a diorama of the world of the future. 4A/B. SPORTS — DELANY SETS NEW INDOOR MILE MARK - In the Chicago Relays, top midwestern indoor track event, Ron Delany scores his 28th consecutive victory, and sets a new world's record, an event long-awaited by track fans. It's a sensational performance by the man who runs only to win, not to beat the clock. / WORLD SKI-JUMP CHAMPIONSHIPS - In Finland, 100,000 spectators are on hand for the world ski-jump championships. Competitors come from as far as Japan, but it's a local boy, who's jumped here since the age of 12, who captures top honors with a graceful 242-foot flight. (TRAILER) - No info.
