Description
The original release sheet reads: HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNIVERSAL PICTURES' COMPANY GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY The oldest Motion Picture Company in the world, UNIVERSAL PICTURES, marks its FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY with a nostalgic glance at the past and an ambitious look at the future. Founded by Carl Laemmle as the old IMP Company, Universal pioneered with such epics as "Hiawatha," shot in the wilds of Fort Lee, New Jersey, across the river from New York City. In the days of WIlliam S. Hart and Mary Pickford movies mushroomed into a part of everyone's entertainment life and "Uncle Carl" proved to be one of the most foresighted of the pioneers. He was honored by all of the Industry when he celebrated his 30th Anniversary as the Producer. Milton Rackmil, today's UNIVERSAL PICTURES PRESIDENT, cut an Anniversary cake that is symbolic of what is to be accomplished in the second half-century with pictures like "That Touch Of Mink," "The Ugly American" and "To Kill A Mockingbird" slated to follow in marquee lights such past hits as "Come September" "Pillow Talk" and "Spartacus." The past forecasts a brilliant future. ROYAL PAGEANT: TROOP THE COLORS FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH Resplendent in tricorn hat and tunic aboard her horse "Imperial," Queen Elizabeth takes the salute of the Coldstream Guards to mark her official birthday and the ninth anniversary of her Coronation.
