Description
The original release sheet reads: THE HISTORIC RENDEZVOUS GREATEST TRIUMPHS OF THE SPACE AGE A pictorial record of one of the proudest achievements in American history. Aboard the Carrier WASP, Command Pilot Walter Schirra and Lt. Col. Thomas Stafford take a last look at their now-famous GEMINI SIX before leaving for the mainland and medical de-briefings. As the crew of the Carrier say farewell to one pair of Astronauts, they welcome another - as GEMINI SEVEN splashes down after a record-breaking 14 days in Space. Both me of the GEMINI SEVEN are in fine physical shape - worried only about a shower and a shave. The crew took remarkable motion pictures aloft of their rendezvous in Space - the successful meeting that will unlock the doorway to the Moon. Here you see GEMINI SIX come up o SEVEN and turn somersaults around its companion. In the words of Schirra - "There is no doubt that a docking could be accomplished tomorrow." This rendezvous also has military implications. However, in the future, man's sense of Brotherhood and humanity may catch up with his technological advances. Then the Christmas season may be old of Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Men in Space.
