Description
The original release sheet reads: OLYMPIC SITE Construction moves forward in Mexico City, host for the '68 Olympics. A village to house 11,000 athletes and reporters, an 80,000-seat stadium, pool-gymnasium, and Sports Palace will all be completed on time. ROTORCRAFT The Army's "Cheyenne," world's most advanced combat rotorcraft, flies horizontally or vertically, and can hit a silver dollar at a mile-and-a-half. It'll escort troop-carrying helicopters. PAINTING Monet's "La Terrasse a Sainte Adresse" brings over one million dollars at a London art auction. The artist's father is believed included in the family garden scene overlooking the sea. The price is a London record for impressionistic art. REFUELING The Navy's twin-jet "Sky Warrior" spends its time in the Vietnam skies as a flying gas-station. It has saved over 400 combat planes with mid-air refueling, allowing them to make it back to their carriers. OPERATION PERSHING U.S. troops search villages in the Bong Son Plain area for Viet Cong an sympathizers who may remain following a two-day battle. The Communist stronghold threatens all allied supply routes. ROBOT The "unimate" robot is an amazing by-product of automation. It does dull, difficult, or dangerous factory jobs, freeing ten men for better work elsewhere in the plant. It has an electronic memory for 200 separate movements and functions. NEW HIGHWAY The new 26-miles long highway across the Austrian Alps, connecting Munich and Venice, gets its first real test this winter. Built as an avalanche-free road, it cost thirty million and 14 workmen were killed during its construction. SNOWMOBILES The World Snowmobile Championship is held in Montreal and 28 international racers compete in speed and cross-country events. Over-all winner: Steve Ave of Hurley, Wisconsin.
