Description

The original release sheet reads: HOLY CITY OPEN Israel annexes the Old City of Jerusalem, opening all Holy places to religious pilgrims of all faiths as well as tourists. The U.S. terms the annexation "hasty" and worldwide diplomatic strain over the postwar Middle East situation increases. LBJ-ROYALTY President and Mrs. Johnson welcome the King and Queen of Thailand in formal ceremonies at the White House. Mr. Johnson salutes the people of Thailand for their faith in Asia's future. BELGIAN TORNADO A village in northern Belgium is rocked by a tornado which kills 1, and injures almost 100. The village church, town hall, cars, trees, and houses were all smashed by the 125 mph winds. LUCI'S BABY Five-day-old Patrick Lyndon Nugent, grandson of the President, leaves the hospital in Austin for home. Luci and Pat answer newsmen's questions, agreeing that son "Lyn" looks very much like both his father and grandfather. JAPANESE KID SWIMMERS Outside Tokyo, the Kawasaki Swimming Academy teaches kids the fine art of thrash, kick, splutter, and squeal. It comes out swimming, however, and the pupils, 4 to 14, are being groomed as future Olympic gold medallists. TEEN FASHION Teen fashions, designed and modelled by teeners, accent mini-everything from skirts, dresses, and culottes...to jumpsuits and see-through raincoats. Knee-length stripes, too! WIMBLEDON TENNIS Puerto Rico's Charlie Pasarell earns a stunning victory over defending Wimbledon champ Manuel Santana on opening day. His aggressive play, steady service, and confidence is too much for Spain's Santana. It's the first opening-day defeat of a Wimbledon defending champion. JET BOAT Californian Lee Taylor drives his jet-boat, almost equalling Donald Campbell's official world-water-speed mark of 276.33 miles an hour. 'Hustler" will continue to challenge.
