Description

The original release sheet reads: 1. 3 SLAIN, 4 CAPTURED, AS 7 CONVICTS MAKE DASH FOR FREEDOM: LEAVENWORTH, KS - Kidnapping Warden Thomas B. White and other officers, the desperadoes force their way from the Federal Prison, and using the captives as shields, terrorize the country with fire-arms, which were obtained in some unaccountable manner. A posse of 500 set out on the trail and rescued E.C. Salisbury, a farmer near here, imprisoned in his own home by the desperadoes, who sought refuge there. A stirring battle resulted in the retaking of 3 of the felons, the death of 3 others and the subsequent capture of the seventh. 2. SUCCESSFUL TRIAL OF “SYNTHETIC WAITER” AMAZES HOTEL MEN: WORCESTER, MA - Noiseless, fool-proof service, minus the indignant scowl of a scornful tray-bearer, is assured with the perfect demonstration of John F. Daschner’s unique device. After working 25 years to develop the invention, he puts his handiwork to a rigid test. Folks sit down, press a button, and presto — without warning, salt and pepper and bread and butter appear on the table. And so it goes through the whole meal. Things pop right out of the bottom of the table, with a dispatch that would make Thurston wonder. And there’s no magic to it, the designer claims. NEWS PARAGRAPHS: 3. SANTA CLAUS, IN - Holiday mail floods St. Nick’s home town! — Extra help added to affix magic post-mark on Christmas correspondence. 4. LEXINGTON, KY- Irate growers halt tobacco sales! — Warehouse glutted, awaiting important price decision. 5. NEW YORK, NY - Paris decrees jeweled hats! — Mme. Nicole designed a few — only 7 of ’em, but they’re worth $575,000. 6. LIFE GUARDS IN BLIMP AID THRILLING RESCUE OF DROWNING BATHER: MIAMI BEACH, FL - Adding the tiny dirigibles to their equipment, the alert corps spy a swimmer about to be engulfed in a heavy sea. Signaling to shore and guiding intrepid guards in a boat to the endangered man, the airship dives to the scene and stands by during the rescue. The exhausted bather is brought safely to shore and revived, a stirring episode in one of the most modern incidents in marine activity. 7. CADETS SINK NAVY IN HARD-FOUGHT PIGSKIN BATTLE BY 17-7 SCORE: NEW YORK, NY - The gridiron’s most colorful spectacle returns $400,000 for charity, and victory to the West Point cohorts in the 32nd meeting of the service elevens. Brilliant play by Ray Stecker, soldier backfield ace, and thrilling passes by Bullet Kirn, of the Midshipmen, mark the contest. Struggling against a high-powered combination, possessed of speed and power, the Annapolis team loses, but only after a bitter struggle to the very end of the game. (LOCAL – CANADA –A) POST OFC.
