Description

The original release sheet reads: SPACE TRIUMPH: SCHIRRA MAKES PERFECT FLIGHT Commander Walter M. Schirra, Jr., completes an almost flawless flight as he orbits the earth six times and comes down in the Pacific just 9,000 years from the target area. An overheating flight suit on the first orbit is the only trouble he has as he travels 160,000 miles in 9 hours and 14 minutes. This flight - so successful, that a 17-orbit flight is planned next. TRAGEDY IN NEW YORK: 21 KILLS IN BOILER BLAST: Tearing through the building with the force of a bomb blast, an exploding boiler takes 21 lives in a New York Telephone Company building. Leaving nearly 100 injured. The boiler, weighing more than a ton, was blown into the building cafeteria during lunch hour. Killing and maiming those in its path. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO IT WAS THE GIANTS-YANKEES THEN, TOO Baseball - like history repeats itself. Twenty-five years ago the Giants, (then of N.Y.) met the Yankees in the World Series before many of the celebrities of the day. The Giants put up a gallant battle but they went down before New York's "Murderers' Row" - Gehrig, DiMaggio, Dickey and Lazzeri. Twenty Five Years later the Giants (now of San Francisco) meet the Yankees again in the World Series.
