The original release sheet reads: FIVE OF A KIND The five children of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Fisher of Aberdeen, South Dakota took the news in stride. They now have four new sisters and a brother in a quintuplet birth that occurs once in 54,000,000 times. The quints faced heavy odds to become the first United States quints to survive infancy. TAIWAN HARD HIT BY RAGING STORM The typhoon season in the far east begins on a note of tragedy as the island of Taiwan is hit by typhoon Gloria. So far nearly one hundred have been found dead and many hundreds injured. As the waters from a 40-hour rain receded a count of destroyed homes passed the 3,000 mark. SPORTS GIANTS PUT HALTER ON COLTS After a near-disaster in the first half, the New York Football Giants come back in the second half to down the colts: 37 to 28. The giants fumble 5 times in the first half to almost hand the game to the colts. In the second half Y.A. Tittle gets going and quarterbacks the giants to the decision that send the Baltimore eleven reeling..... TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO It was a gala year for sport in 1938. Johnny Vander Meer pitches two no-hit games in a row. The legendary Babe Ruth ends his career as coach for the dodgers. The world series had a familiar ring as the yankees beat the cubs. The horse race "of the century"-seabiscuit versus war admiral. Glenn Cunningham was the greatest miler of his decade. Another in this era of colorful sport personalities was Don Budge, tennis superman! A year of revenge for Joe Louis. He knocks out Max Schmeling in the first round of their return bout. Speaking of sports-the "Miss America" contest was going strong then as now. As Will Shakespeare said: "Age cannot wither her, nor customs stale her infinite variety".
